An Easy Way to Create a Cool Christmas Calendar

What makes Christmas so special for all of us? It is the opportunity to be able to spend quality time with our family, share laughter and joys with them, and giving away beautiful presents to them. But the most special part of Christmas is your children; it is they who really make us feel as if we are in seventh heaven.

One of the best ways to enjoy the Christmas season is by doing some Christmas crafts. You can engage your kids in this. Kids enjoy creating new stuff; besides, you would be able to save big money on Christmas decorations!

Christmas crafts don’t have to be something unique; it can be something as simple as a Christmas calendar. In this article I will tell you how to make Christmas calendars.

Materials you need:

1. 25 socks of your child’s size

2. Christmas wired edge ribbon: Buy enough so that you can not only hang the socks across the ribbon but also hang the ribbon at the ends.

3. Embellishments: You are free to choose the kinds of embellishments you want for your calendar; just keep in mind that your embellishments shouldn’t be too big or heavy

4. Clothespins: You can buy clothespins on different Christmas themes and colors

5. A marker: This one should be used to number the socks from one to twenty-five. Make sure you write the numbers in between the heel and top of the socks!

6. Notebook paper: This should be cut in a way so as to fit inside each sock

Okay, once you have the above tools, we can proceed to the actual recipe!

First, you should design the socks. You can leave this task to your children. Give them the embellishments you have brought and let them do the designs in the way they feel. Just make sure to instruct them not to cover the numbers on the socks with the embellishments!

You should write small messages on notebook paper cuts for different days of the Christmas season, and make sure they fit inside each sock. Make sure that your kids are not able to read those messages until the proper time comes. Just to give you an idea, the messages for 24th December could be something like: “Don’t forget to make cookies and milk for tomorrow!”

Now is the time to attach the socks. You can leave this task to your children. Tell them to attach the sock with the ribbon using clothespins; also tell them that they should cut enough ribbon so that there is enough left at the end, so that it can be tied around a nail! You shouldn’t forget to instruct them not to pin the front edge of the socks using clothespins, or you won’t be able to insert your ’secret’ Christmas messages!

Isn’t it a cool craft? Just imagine, everyday, your child will run his fingers into the respective sock and come up with a new cool message to enjoy!
